Make-up Policy:
In order for students to achieve full credit for missed skills assessment or mile run due to illness or absence, the student must make-up it up prior to the end of a grading period.  It is the student’s responsibility to contact the teacher and arrange for a date and time to take the test.

Physical Education Uniform and Lock
Students are expected to dress and participate on a daily basis in physical education.  Failure to dress for physical education will result in detention and administrative referral. The P.E. uniform consists of a gray t-shirt with blue shorts or sweat pants.  Tennis shoes and socks are required to be worn during all P.E. activities.  The P.E. clothes and lock must be purchased through the school’s student store.  Students are to use their combination lock to secure personal items while participating in physical education.  Any loss of property during P.E. is not the responsibility of John Adams Middle School or SMMUSD.

Physical Education Excuses
Students may be excused from participating in physical education or have a modified program for up to three consecutive days with a written request from a parent.  Regardless of the reason, excuses lasting over three days REQUIRE a physician’s note indicating diagnosis and length of time the excuse is needed.

Physical Education Locker Policy
Every student will be assigned a P.E. locker in which to store his or her uniform during the week.  Every locker in the P.E. dressing room shall be subject to random inspection by any person including a police officer, authorized by the administration at any time, with or without the presence of the student to whom the locker is assigned and without advance notice thereof.  No student allowed in the locker room without an adult supervision.

Consequences for Non-suit:
  1. Non-suit = warning
  2. Non-suit = 15 minutes detention + parent contact
  3. Non-suit = minutes detention + parent contact
  4. Non-suit = Referral to Counselor
  5. Non-suit = Referral to Administrator
